LEMOYNE, Pa. (WHTM) -

A New Cumberland couple was arrested after their car crashed into Lemoyne convenience store Tuesday night.

Jose Mulero fled on foot after he drove a 1992 Ford Crown Victoria into the Turkey Hill in the 400 block of South 3rd Street, according to West Shore Regional police.

His girlfriend, Amy Sharar, told police her foot slipped off the brake and onto the accelerator while parking the car, but witnesses and surveillance video revealed she was inside the store and not behind the wheel when the crash occurred, police said.

Sharar was arrested at the scene for unsworn falsification and false reports to law enforcement.

Mulero was taken into custody several hours later and charged with accidents involving damage to property, reckless endangerment, careless driving, and driving while operating privilege is suspended or revoked.

The store was heavily damaged, but police said no employees or patrons were injured.
