MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - A man facing a murder charge after his young son died in a hot SUV will spend at least the next month in the Cobb County Jail after a judge denied bond during a Thursday night court hearing.

Justin Ross Harris, 33, originally of Tuscaloosa, Alabama, is also charged with cruelty to children.

Harris, who lives in Marietta, will remain jailed until his next court appearance, set for July 15.

WSB-TV reports that Harris was silent and showed no outward emotions during Thursday's brief court hearing. WXIA-TV reports that Harris pleaded not guilty.

Police said Harris told investigators he was supposed to drive his son to daycare, but drove straight to work and didn't realize the boy was strapped into his car seat until the ride home Wednesday afternoon.
