NORTHPORT, Alabama -- A Northport woman has been jailed after allegedly passing counterfeit currency at a local business, police said Friday.

Shannon Rittenhouse, 37, is in the Tuscaloosa County Jail, charged with 12 counts of first-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument. According to a release, a cocktail bar off McFarland Boulevard in Northport called police after an employee noticed apparent-counterfeit cash that had been passed by one of its customers. Authorities later confirmed the worker's suspicions, and an arrest warrant was obtained.

Two days later, investigators arrested Rittenhouse at her place of employment. She was booked into the county jail on a $350,000 bond.
