Man says he fired gun in self-defense during attack in Lebanon

LEBANON, Pa. (WHTM) -

Lebanon police are investigating a report that a man fired a gun in self-defense at another man who had threatened to kill him.

The 35-year-old victim told officers he was walking in the 500 block of Scull Street late Thursday when his attacker approached him, stated in Spanish that he was going to kill him, then used a small weapon - possibly a knife - to cause superficial cuts to the victim's side, city police said in a news release.

The victim then pulled a handgun he was carrying legally and fired three rounds at the man, who fled south from Scull Street.

There is no indication the suspect was struck by gunfire, and the victim did not require medical treatment for his injuries, police said.

Anyone with information may call Lebanon police at 717-272-6611 or Crime Stoppers at 717-270-9800.
