Billy Currington Concert Bringing Business Downtown

Danville, VA -- Downtown Danville restaurants expect big business Friday night. Country music star Billy Currington will be playing at the Carrington Pavilion, for the kick off of the Harvest Jubilee Concert Series.

Thousands of people will be in downtown Danville filling these chairs for one of the biggest concerts of the year. They've already sold over 2,000 tickets and they expect to sell more at the door.

As crews work hard to get ready for big crowds so do River District restaurants.

"The more business we attract to the downtown Danville area, it helps everyone downtown," said Taylor Alvis, General Manager of Golden Leaf Bistro.

Golden Leaf Bistro opened last summer just in time for some big concerts. They tell us they saw noticeable increases in customers on nights with a show.

"For the most part, every timee they have something down at the Carrington, we receive a direct benefit from that," said Alvis.

Last year The Band Perry sold out, bringing more than 5,000 people just blocks away.

"Anytime we have an event going on downtown, we staff up for it, we prep heavy, we order more food, we place an emphasis on direct marketing, Facebook," said Alvis.

They're not the only ones. Dell'Anno's gets ready too.

"We will have more food available tonight. Staffing is a little bit more tonight so we are prepared and ready to go," said Michael Gillespie, Manager of Dell'Anno's.

Gillespie says these concerts attract about 20% more customers to their restaurant, something any small business can appreciate.

"For us it is really good. It helps a lot," said Gillespie.

Other concerts this summer include Jarrod Neimann and Danielle Bradbery
