About 100 people came out to the school board meeting last night... many of them fearing the board would take action against Superintendent Ed Newsome in a closed session beforehand.
No official word was given on the purpose of the closed session or what was discussed, but members of the community came forward during the main meeting asking the board to reflect on Newsome's recent accomplishments.
The local NAACP chapter said any action taken against him would not sit well with many people.
"If this board does not heed our request, please be prepared for tremendous outcry from the African-American community, " said chapter president Greg Hairston.
Following another closed session in the middle of the meeting, the board did not take any action about Newsome.
