BALTIMORE, Md. (WHTM) -
There's still no decision on the appeal of a defrocked Lebanon County pastor.
Reverend Frank Schaefer lost his credentials last December for officiating his son's same-sex wedding in 2007 and then saying he couldn't promise not to perform another same-sex ceremony.
He appealed in is currently in Maryland awaiting the decision of a church panel.
Schaefer told abc27 over the weekend that he's anxious for a ruling; not just for himself but also for the gay community.
"That if a minister, United Methodist minister, treats them equally, treats them as human being with equal rights, that minister is punished. And that's a terrible message to send. So I'm hoping for a good outcome for that very purpose, too," he said.
The panel has less than 20 days to reach a decision.
