Teens charged in burglary at JP McCaskey High School

Two Lancaster teenagers have been charged in the theft of 23 laptop computers during a burglary at JP McCaskey High School earlier this month.

Eighteen-year-old Anibal Diaz and a juvenile allegedly forced their way into a music lab and stole the laptops during the early morning of June 5, city police said in a news release Monday.

Police said the two were linked to the crime through a car that was stolen in West Lampeter Township the morning of the burglary and recovered in Lancaster later that day.

The owner found nine school laptops in the recovered car, and she recognized two skateboards left there as belonging to two friends of her son.

Diaz was interviewed and admitted to his role in the theft of the car and the burglary at the school. He also returned the remaining computers, police said. He was charged with burglary and two counts of theft by unlawful taking.

The unnamed juvenile also admitted to his role in the school break-in and was charged with burglary, receiving stolen property and theft by unlawful taking.
