Woman Facing Murder, Firearm Charges in Buckingham Co.
Buckingham Co., VA – A 34-year-old woman has been charged with attempted first degree murder and other firearm charges after investigators in Buckingham County say she fired shots through the door of a residence while trying to gain entry Saturday morning.
The sheriff’s office says they initially responded to the 700 block of Sleepy Hollow Road in the Arvonia area at 8:16 a.m. to investigate a report of a woman trying to break into a residence armed with a gun.
While on their way, the call was upgraded to shots fired.
When deputies arrived, they found a woman walking from the back of the residence. Deputies arrested Tiffany Nicole Ewell Newsome and took her into custody without incident.
Investigators say two shots went through the back door of the residence, causing “substantial” damage to the inside.
Deputies found the suspect’s vehicle in the driveway with the license plates hidden by tape. A shot gun was also found in the vehicle.
Newsome has been charged with 3 counts of attempted first degree murder, 2 counts of maliciously shooting into a dwelling, 2 counts of the use of a firearm in commission of a felony, attempted breaking and entering, destruction of property over $1000, reckless handling of a firearm, and brandishing a firearm.
Newsome is being held at the Piedmont Regional Jail without bond.
