GRANTVILLE, Pa. (WHTM) -

A veteran is passing through the Midstate on a nearly 3,000 mile journey to help his fellow military members.

Twenty-two-year-old Army veteran Eric Peters received a Purple Heart for his service in Afghanistan. He began his "Walk For The Fallen" Friday in New Jersey and is walking to California to raise awareness and funds for post-traumatic stress disorder and traumatic brain injuries.

The entire trip is expected to take about seven to eight months.

ABC27 caught up with him Tuesday night in Grantville.

"In today's world with PTSD and TBI, they're looked at as monsters, you know basically crazy people, insane," Peters said, "but I have it myself and as you guys know, I'm not crazy. Well, crazy for doing this walk, but it's for a good cause."

Peters hopes to raise $100,000 with all the money going to veterans.
