After nearly five hours of combing the Conewago Creek outside of Dover, rescuers suspended their search Thursday night and announced it will pick back up around 7 a.m. Friday.
Officials say around 2 p.m. Thursday afternoon, two men fishing in a rowboat got caught up in the current and went over a low-head dam.
One man got out and called for help. The other man has not been seen since.
Both men are in either their 30’s or 40’s, officials say.
The call came in around 3:15 p.m. A command station was set up near Davidsburg Road and Colonial Road.
Crews, with the help of helicopters, searched about a four-mile stretch of the creek and its banks.
Shortly after the search was suspended, first responders stressed safety near dams.
“Stay away from low-head dams if you are on any stream, be aware of your surroundings when you are on the streams,” Lee Byers, chief of East Berlin Fire Department said.
Officials say the men were also towing another boat with coolers and equipment in it.
The men were not wearing life vests.
Their identities were not released Thursday evening.
