The Spring 2014 Hospital Safety Scores are out. The Leapfrog Group puts the report cards together to rate the hospitals on how they are doing. It looks at how patients fare, resources used in caring for patients, and leadership and structure that promote patient safety. The hospitals must send in a survey in order to get a grade.
For the hospitals in our area, Lynchburg General and Virginia Baptist both got A's.
Bedford Memorial, Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital and Lewis Gale in Salem received B's.
Unfortunately, Memorial Hospital of Martinsville got a D, while the Danville Regional did not respond to the survey, therefore they were not scored.
