Governor Tom Corbett has signed an execution warrant for a former Reading man who is on death row for killing a Lebanon County woman six years ago.
Glenn Lyons, 49, is scheduled to die by lethal injection on August 21.
Lyons was convicted of first-degree murder and sentenced to death in 2011 for the stabbing death of Kathy Leibig three years earlier.
Lyons and Leibig were co-workers at a Womelsdorf chocolate factory and were having an affair when her body was found inside her vehicle at Wernersville State Hospital in May 2008, days after she was reported missing.
Authorities said she had been stabbed approximately 30 times in her face, neck, shoulder and chest.
At his trial, Lyons claimed he found Leibig dead after they were robbed and he was knocked out, but prosecutors said a surveillance camera recorded him as he threw Leibig's personal effects and his bloodstained sweatshirt into a dumpster.
Prosecutors also argued that knives found at the crime scene were the same type as those found in his apartment.
A man who sold cocaine to Lyons testified that during their drug binge, Lyons hinted at hurting Leibig several times and indicated he took her personal effects to make the crime look like a robbery.
