HOOVER, Alabama -- Authorities have released the name of the man who allegedly shot and killed himself after setting fire to a home in Hoover Sunday morning, ABC 33/40 has learned.

Sterling Hayden Womble, 42, died at a residence in the 1800 block of Burning Tree Circle from an apparent suicide. According to police, Womble set fire to the house before shooting himself. The blaze later caused a loud explosion at the home.

One of Womble's roommates told ABC 33/40 that the man was disgruntled about his recent eviction from the home.

    A federal judge is delaying his decision on an Alabama law that could close some abortion clinics. U.S. District Judge Myron Thompson told attorneys in June that he hoped to rule by the end of July. But Thompson notified attorneys Thursday that he needs extra time and will have a ruling by Monday.
