Woman Released from Jail, Sentenced to Time Served After Kids Die in Hot Car
Prince George Co., (VA)- A Prince George County woman will not have to spend any more time in jail after her two children died in a hot car.
Brittney Downing spent 72 days in jail after she was arrested in May of last year. The judge sentenced her to time served and probation, plus some community service.
She pleaded guilty in August to involuntary manslaughter and child endangerment. Downing left her three month old daughter and 20 month old son in a car for seven hours while she worked at a motel near Richmond. The girl died that night at home and the boy died a few days later at the hospital.
