Mount Joy man dies after crash into corn field, rail embankment

MANHEIM, Pa. (WHTM) -

A Mount Joy man died at a hospital after he crashed into an Amtrak railway embankment in Rapho Township this morning.

Manheim police said the 68-year-old man left Newcomer Road and traveled about a half-mile through a corn field before striking the embankment shortly before 7:30 a.m.

His name was not immediately released.

Police said the vehicle did not cross the railroad tracks or jeopardize train safety, and no trains were delayed.

The incident is still under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Manheim police at 717-665-2481.
