2 Etowah County women charged with chemical endangerment of a child

ETOWAH COUNTY, Alabama -- Two Etowah County women were arrested last weekend on felony charges of chemical endangerment of a child, Sheriff Todd Entrekin announced.

Amy Renea Hall, 24, of Rainbow City, is charged with one count of chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed. She's also accused of second-degree theft by deception. According to a release, Hall admitted using Xanax and Oxycontin during her pregnancy.

Dylan Leann Entrekin, 21, of Gadsden, is also charged with one count of chemical endangerment of exposing a child to an environment in which controlled substances are ingested, produced or distributed, as well as one count of possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia. She admitted using meth on a daily basis, according to the sheriff's office.

“It is simply unacceptable for an adult to endanger an innocent child’s life,” Sheriff Entrekin said in a release. “How do we reverse this trend, I’m not sure. But as long as women continue to put their child’s welfare in jeopardy we will continue to arrest them and offer them help.

Both women are being held without bond in the Etowah County Detention Center.
