Officials in York County say a caregiver stole over $500,000 worth of high-quality jewelry from her employer.

On May 26, police were dispatched to a home in the 700 block of Pinetown Road. The homeowner reported that between April and May, someone had stolen numerous pieces of very unique jewelry from the house.

The value of the missing jewelry was in excess of $500,000.

On July 1, police arrested 45-year-old Tammi L. Alabdulla of Elizabethtown, one of the homeowners' visiting caregivers.

"Before we were able to isolate her as the actual offender in the case, she was continuing to work for them. So they trusted her and brought her into the house with no questions," said Detective Jarrett Boyle, of Fairview Township police.

He adds that the suspect sold the half-million dollar collection for just $12,000.

Alabdulla was charged with theft and receiving stolen property. She was transported to the York County Booking Center for processing and arraignment. She was then committed to York County Prison in lieu of $150,000 cash bail.
