MECHANICSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) -

A pickup truck overturned and spilled a load of watermelons on Interstate 81 in Cumberland County this morning.

I-81 northbound was closed at the exit for Mechanicsburg and Route 114 after the accident occurred just after 11 a.m.

One lane of I-81 North reopened after a half-hour, but was closed again while crews hosed down the roadway. The crash was eventually cleared by 12:45 p.m.

The driver of another truck hauling melons told ABC27 News his wife and best friend were in the truck that rolled over. He said both were transported to a hospital with serious injuries.
