Coroner identifies woman killed in car vs. train accident

Posted: Updated:
A mother was killed, while her child and another adult were seriously injured after their car crossed into the path of a train Saturday in York County.

The York County coroner was called to the 1100 block of Cly Road after the vehicle and a Norfolk Southern train collided in Newberry Township.

It happened at around 4:45 p.m. when the northbound train hit the car.

According to police, 23-year-old Cori Sisti died at the scene. Her daughter and a man were rescued from the vehicle and flown to Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

Police said the family was en route to some sort of gathering at the time of the crash. There is no gate or flashing lights at the intersection where it occurred, but the train's whistle was being blown, authorities said.

The accident is under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call Newberry Township Police at 717-938-2608.
