Matthew Puterbaugh, 47, of Dover is scheduled for a preliminary hearing. Puterbaugh faces a number of charges including statutory sexual assault.  Police said the Dover Intermediate School teacher had sex with the student more than 80 times, beginning in the summer before she entered seventh grade.  Police said it happened in various locations, including the school.

Additionally, Puterbaugh faces charges in connection with 15 more alleged victims. Police said he either took pictures or videos of them, or touched them inappropriately.  Police said those incident happened over the past four years at the school, band camp, and graduation ceremonies.

Authorities began their investigation into Puterbaugh after a 12-year-old girl told school officials that he caressed and squeezed her thigh during a music class February 19.

The district suspended Puterbaugh immediately and contacted police, who said they then seized his cell phone and found numerous videos that appeared to be of school-aged girls. Faces from the videos were shown to school officials, who identified many of the girls as current and former students.

Puterbaugh is still suspended without pay.
