CHAMBERSBURG, Pa. (WHTM) - Police have identified the trucker killed in Tuesday morning's accident on Interstate 81 in Franklin County as 51-year-old Steven Lee Winfrey of Roanoke, Virginia.

The crash closed Interstate 81 northbound at exit 10, Route 914 in Guilford Township, for several hours Tuesday morning.

Police say Winfrey was driving a tractor trailer northbound on I-81 just before 5 a.m. when he radioed to another trucker driving behind him that he wasn't feeling good.

Moments later the tractor trailer went off the roadway, traveling along the grassy shoulder of the interstate before hitting a cement storm drain and bursting into flames.

The driver of the second tractor trailer stopped to try to get Winfrey out, but was unsuccessful because of the intense fire.

Winfrey was pronounced dead at the scene.

Both lanes were shut down for several hours, they are now open.
