Philadelphia judge rejects lap dance tax

Posted: Updated:

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - A Philadelphia judge has rejected the city's attempt to impose a tax on lap dances in strip clubs.

The judge agreed Wednesday with the conclusions of the Tax Review Board that the tax is inappropriate.

The city had appealed the board's findings.

Strip clubs argued they already pay a 5 percent amusement tax on admission charges and that the law is not intended to also cover interior entertainment.

The Philadelphia Daily News (http://bit.ly/Wb5rOY) says the mayor's office did not comment on whether it would file further appeals.
