Danville-Pittsylvania County Habitat For Humanity Working To Revitalize Hughes Street One House At A Time

Posted:
Danville, VA-- There's some great news for an organization that is working to revitalize a neighborhood in Danville.

The Danville-Pittsylvania County Habitat for Humanity just received a $5,000 grant from the Bank of America Charitable Foundation. It will be used for their Hughes Street Project.

The Danville-Pittsylvania County Habitat for Humanity builds homes all over the city and county for those who qualify, but they say recently they're focusing on building most of their homes in the Hughes Street area in Danville. It's where their main office is.

"Wonderful people live in this neighborhood, but blight was starting to encroach on the neighborhood. Some of the houses have been abandoned and we saw it as an opportunity to have an impact in our neighborhood," said Michael Parsons, Executive Director of Danville-Pittsylvania County Habitat For Humanity.

So far, they've built and renovated four houses and will complete one within the next few weeks.
