An altercation between several people at a local 7-Eleven may have led to the shooting death of Lawrence Giusto in Lynchburg last month.
That's one of the new details that came out during a bond hearing for 18-year-old Jakiel Benson in Lynchburg District Court .
According to Assistant Commonwealth's Attorney Bethany Harrison, Benson and Jhalil Bateman, who is also under arrest for the murder, had words with Giusto at a local 7-Eleven, just hours before the shooting.
In that altercation, Benson allegedly said to Giusto: "We're gonna shoot you up tonight.".
Harrison testified before the court that Benson has admitted to being a passenger in the lead red SUV that opened fire on Giusto. Harrison says Benson also admitted to carrying a .32 gun that night. According to Harrison, .32 caliber bullet casings were found at the shooting scene.
The judge denied bond for Benson. His trial, along with the trials for the other adults charged, is scheduled to begin on August 21st.
