LOS ANGELES, CA, July 17, 2014 /24-7PressRelease/ -- Multi-platinum singer-songwriter Chantal Kreviazuk will feature a leather back long floral maxi dress from Los Angeles-based Stillwater The Brand for her charity concert today at 7 p.m. at the CedarCreek Estate Winery in Kelowna, BC, Canada. She worked with stylist Kim Appelt to select a designer to work with for the concert.
"I love being dressed by [Appelt], love that [she] put me in [her] favorite brands like Stillwater to make me feel beautiful in the vineyard in the romantic summer sunset venue," said Kreviazuk. "Community, music and the outdoors are three of the best things life has to offer! And certainly Kelowna presents no shortage of this for me!"
The charity event is part of the TELUS Sunset Concerts and proceeds will be donated to the Rotary Centre for the Arts in Kelowna.
"We focused a lot of attention on the back in this seasons dresses," said Lisa Popp, Stillwater designer and owner. "We looked at ways to flatter the female body with strappy details and cut outs. In this dress, we love the mix of a floaty bohemian silhouette and leather contrast back for a surprise edge."
Kreviazuk, a Canadian born contemporary musician and classically trained pianist, recorded her double platinum debut album - "Under These Rocks and Stones" - for Columbia Records in 1997. She was named Best Female Artist at the 2000 Juno Awards and her double platinum album, "Colour Moving and Still," won a Juno Award for Best Pop Album. She's co-written songs with artists including Avril Lavigne, Kelly Clarkson, Drake and others.
Kreviazuk's cover of the John Denver-written "Leaving on a Jet Plane" appeared on the motion picture soundtrack for "Armageddon." She's recorded songs for many soundtracks including for Paramount's "How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days," Columbia Pictures' "Stuart Little 2" and Miramax's "Serendipity." Kreviazuk recorded a Randy Newman cover - "Feels Like Home" - for "Dawson's Creek" and her Beatles' cover of "In My Life," was used as the opening theme for the NBC series, "Providence."
"Chantal's style is edgy, classy and California chic," Appelt said. "To me, she embodies everything Stillwater - that laid back girl that just throws on her clothing and loves life. The setting is outdoors in the most stunning winery amphitheater. She will be on the piano as the sun goes down behind her. The dress is flowy, floral with a touch of leather on the back to add a touch of class and formality, the most perfect dress for the event."
Appelt styles celeb and media for red carpet appearances and prestigious live events. She's collaborated with a who's who list of fashion designers and brands including BCBG Max Azria, B.Swim, Onna Ehrlich, Tart Collections, Guess, Annie Bing and Mark Fast. Last month, Appelt styled "Days of Our Lives" star Casey Moss for the Daytime Emmy Awards and she was tabbed a permanent fashion expert for weekly radio segments on MIX 100.5 FM (Palm Springs, Calif.).
