Local Ukrainian woman reacts to news of doomed flight MH17

ENOLA, Pa. (WHTM) - It didn’t take long for word of the crash of Malaysia Airlines Flight MH 17 to reach Nadiya Cherednyk, a Ukrainian now living outside of Harrisburg.

She was devastated over what had happened in the sky about her native country.

“I am sure in Ukraine right now, what happened today, for a Ukrainian, it's so painful,” Cheredynk told abc27.

She moved to the United States 10 years ago, and still has family and friends thousands of miles away. Cheredynk is worried for their safety.

Of course everyone afraid (to) fly…everyone afraid,”Cheredynk said.

She is worried the incident, during which officials say the passenger plane carrying nearly 300 people was shot at by a surface-to-air missile, will lead to more fighting.

It's going to be more, more, more and more blood, ”Cheredynk said.
