Family of Karina DeJesus pleads for her safe return

YORK, Pa. (WHTM) -  The family of a missing Midstate woman is pleading for her safe return.

Karina DeJesus, 23, was last seen in the company of her ex-boyfriend, 27-year old Jeffrey Reid of York. Her family believes he took her against her will.

The two had lived together in York before DeJesus had filed a protection from abuse (PFA) order against her.

Reid is wanted for shooting and killing a York man last weekend.

Brunilda Ramos said she tried all day Thursday to get a hold of her daughter and couldn't figure out what happened. But then her grandson said that Reid showed up just before Karina disappeared.

"We said 'what happened?'," Ramos told abc27. "He said 'He took my mommy. He took my mommy'."

Reid is wanted for shooting Dashaun Davis to death last Saturday night. Reid is also suspected of starting the fire which damaged a York apartment building in which he used to live with DeJesus.

Her family is very worried about what Reid will do to her.

"The last time I talked to her was Monday and she said she was scared for her life," said Karina's cousin Yari DeJesus. "She told me that when he sees her that he was going to kill her. That was the last time I spoke to her."

"I just want him to do the right thing and turn himself in. Let my niece go," said Karina's aunt Marilyn Sandell. "Just let her go. No matter what you have to do, turn yourself in. Or they're going to come after you. Just let her go. We just want her home. I'm begging him."
