Nighttime work on more than four miles of Interstate 83 at the Maryland state line is scheduled to begin Sunday.
Road crews will prepare I-83 northbound and southbound for paving between the state line and Exit 4 in Shrewsbury Township, according to a PennDOT news release.
Drivers can expect short-term single-lane restrictions Sunday through Thursday on I-83 North between 9 p.m. and 7 a.m., and at times on I-83 South between 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
PennDOT spokesman Mike Crochunis said the contractor may choose to work Friday or Saturday nights if work is delayed by weather or other circumstances during the week.
The work is scheduled to be completed by July 2015.
The $6.1 million project is funded by the transportation plan enacted by Governor Tom Corbett in April.
