GLEN ROCK, Pa. (WHTM) -

William Mabry and Thomas Hensel of Glen Rock have been 'best buds' for nearly 40 years and have seen their fair share of shenanigans.

"We've never gotten into an altercation where we've actually had the police thank us for the altercation," Hensel said.

That all changed Sunday afternoon when they noticed a suspicious-looking man along the first block of Baltimore Street.

"His eyes were pinned and he was kind of slouching around. He was just watching everybody and it kind of gave me the creeps," Hensel said.

Minutes later, they noticed the man attacking a woman on the sidewalk.

"(William) yells at me 'Tommy he's hitting her' and I couldn't stop the truck fast enough," Hensel said.

"I put my foot right there, completely pinned him -- put all my weight on him and he wasn't moving at all after that," Mabry said.

The pair then held the suspect down on the ground until someone called police and officers arrived.

"It was like natural instinct," Mabry said. "I didn't think twice. I was just like 'hey, you don't do that to women -- you don't do that in general'."

"I told him 'you don't do this stuff in my hometown -- you don't do this stuff in Glen Rock. It doesn't happen'," Hensel said.

Investigators identified the suspect as 34-year-old Patrick Dent of Parkton, Maryland. He is charged with robbery, simple assault, disorderly conduct, and criminal mischief charges.

Dent remains in York County Prison on $150,000 bail, according to police.

No one was seriously hurt.
