Man assaulted in York, police seek suspects

Posted: Updated:

York Area Regional Police are looking for suspects in a violent assault.

Police say around 10:44 Friday night, a man and two women were walking through the parking lot of the Wells Fargo Bank on N. Main Street in Red Lion Borough, when they were approached by three males.

Witnesses say the three males started harassing the two females, and the victim, a 38-year-old man from Red Lion, told them to "back off."

The situation escalated, according to witnesses, and one of the males struck the victim in the head with a skateboard.

The victim fell to the ground and was punched in the head "four or five times" before the suspects fled on foot.

Police arrived and witnesses were able to identify the suspect who allegedly hit the victim with the skateboard as 18-year-old Devin Flaharty of Windsor Township.

The victim was unconscious and taken to York Hospital for treatment.

Police obtained an arrest warrant for aggravated assault for Flaharty's arrest. He was taken into custody on Sunday around 9:43 p.m.

Officials are still trying to identify the two other suspects involved in the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact York Area Regional Police at 717-741-1259.
