WEST YORK, Pa. (WHTM) -

A 41-year-old man was found dead after a shooting incident early Tuesday in West York.

Police said they found the deceased victim lying near the sidewalk when they responded to reports of gunshots fired in the 1100 block of West King Street at around 4:30 a.m.

York County Coroner Pam Gay said the victim, Lancelot Hylton, had been shot and his death is being investigated as a homicide.

The cause and manner of death are pending an autopsy Wednesday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown.

Neighbors described the scene as chaotic.

"My daughter said she heard shots," Sherri Cone said.

"All I saw was the cop lights in my bedroom window," Michelle Foster said.

Police said no suspects have been identified.

"It's sad, really sad, that people cannot find another way to resolve their problems," said Leah King, a neighbor.

"It's discouraging because I don't want my kids around it, I don't want my kids thinking they are worried about getting shot," Foster said.

Anyone with information is asked to call West York police at 717-854-1975 or the department's tip line at 717-478-TIPS.
