PEACH BOTTOM, Pa. (WHTM) -

Authorities have identified an 8-year-old boy who was killed by a lightning strike after swimming in a Lancaster County creek.

Ephraim Stoltzfus was struck Sunday afternoon while he was running across a field after exiting the creek in Fulton Township, Dauphin County Coroner Graham Hetrick said.

Stoltzfus died Sunday evening at Penn State Hershey Medical Center.

Hetrick has ruled the death an accident.

Lancaster Newspapers reported that three boys were swimming in the Conowingo Creek when a storm moved through.

Two of them were taken to Lancaster General Hospital and then to Hershey Medical Center.

The condition of the second boy who was injured hasn't been released.

The third boy apparently wasn't hurt.
