Your recent role as peacekeeper is not a permanent one, so you can turn off the diplomacy act today. If someone says something controversial in a group, don't try to suppress it or smooth it over. There's no need for you to make what this person says more palatable. Let this person experience the consequences of their statement; don't try to protect them. Maybe it's time that they realized that what they have to say is often something that people don't want to hear.
