Eric Finkenbinder

Eric lives near his hometown of Duncannon where he enjoys most of his time on the family farm. His time on the farm showed him the importance of detailed, local weather forecasts which is why he pursued the challenges of meteorology at Penn State.  He received a B.S. in meteorology in 2003 and started working with longtime weathercaster Chuck Rhodes shortly after graduation. Eric was honored to work with Chuck for the first 5 years of his career, especially since he inspired Eric at an early age. This will be Eric’s 20th year with abc27 where you can see him during the weekday evening newscasts at 5, 6, 7 and 11 p.m.

Eric is the Chief Meteorologist for the abc27 weather team and has won several awards over the last few years. He was recently awarded an Emmy for best weather anchor by the Mid Atlantic Chapter of the National Academy of Television, Arts and Sciences in 2022, the fifth Emmy in this category in the last six years!  He received other awards over the years including Best Weathercasts from the Pennsylvania Associated Press and Simply the Best Weather Personality and Reader’s Choice awards by Harrisburg Magazine.   Eric is also a member and seal holder of the National Weather Association.

When Eric is not at the station, you will likely find him working the fields on the 5th generation family farm in Perry County. Any additional free time is spent with his wife and kids in the backyard, near a local stream or deep in the woods.
