Hometown heroes are helping children affected by Hurricane Florence get back to school.
Donations gathered during a school supply drive in the Manheim Township School District were loaded Thursday onto a trailer that will head to North Carolina.
The Backpacks for Hope donation drive gathered more than $10,000 worth of school supplies.
“It just speaks volumes to the community that we live in,” organizer Richard Chavis said. “It’s so nice and refreshing that with everything we got going on in the world to know that people do want to help.”
The donations are expected to arrive in North Carolina this weekend.
