On Friday abc27 salutes Elmer Barnhart, Jr.
Barnhart served with the U.S. Army’s 85th Mountain Infantry, part of the 10th Mountain Ski Patrol.
He received a purple heart for wounds he received in 1945 in Italy during a campaign to take take a mountain top bunker from the Germans.
