Celiac disease is an autoimmune disease that is growing in prevalence. It’s estimated that 1 in every 133 people have celiac disease, but 80 to 90% don’t know it.
Signs of celiac disease include bloating, fatigue, anemia (low blood count), and sometimes heartburn or diarrhea. These symptoms occur from damage that gluten causes when it is eaten.
