S’more science: Harrisburg students learn with pizzabox ovens

Whitaker Center Science

Fourth-grade students at Ben Franklin Elementary School in Harrisburg built and designed solar-powered ovens.

The students took pizza boxes, outfitted them with aluminum foil and plastic wrap, and added some black paper to keep the heat inside the box.

The ovens were placed in the schoolyard Thursday morning and after two hours, temperatures inside the box reached 100 degrees.

The students then made s’mores as a part of a fun science experiment.
