Pennsylvania reports season's first flu-related child death

HARRISBURG, Pa. (WHTM) - Pennsylvania health officials are reporting the first death of a child in this year's flu season.

The state Health Department reported the death in its report of flu activity during the week that ended January 26.

The child's name and age were not released.

The department has reported 25 adult flu-related deaths this season and continues to classify the flu as "widespread." The highest activity has been reported in the southeast and northwest regions of the state.

There have been 19,757 laboratory-confirmed flu cases reported this season.
