(WHTM) — A crash shut down a portion of Route 283 in Dauphin County for a few hours on Sunday morning.

According to 511Pa, there was a multi-vehicle crash on PA 283 westbound between Exit: PA 230/PA 341 – Toll House Road and Exit: Middletown-Hummlestown. All lanes were closed.

Pennsylvania State Police has told abc27 that the initial call for the crash came in around 9:52 a.m. The Londonderry Fire Company stated that two vehicles collided head-on, while another vehicle struck one of the vehicles sitting on the highway.

Fire police closed Route 283 West at Toll House diverting traffic onto Route 230 and back onto Route 283 via Vine Street.

The fire company said that three patients were transported to the hospital. PennDOT spokesperson Fritzi Schreffler stated that at least one person died in the crash.

As of 12:20 p.m., the road has been reopened. The crash is being investigated by Pennsylvania State Police.
