(WHTM) — Thursday’s hometown heroes are 1st through 6th graders throughout Pennsylvania!

Students showed how to avoid ticks and make sure others know how to prevent a tick bite.

There were 12 winners selected based on an art poster and video submission.

The Shapiro administration announced the winners at the Capitol building. According to the CDC, about 476,000 people are diagnosed and treated for Lyme disease every year.
