A man who has traveled around the world continues to give back to his community where he grew up.
Chris “Handles” Franklin is a member of the world famous Harlem Globetrotters. Franklin grew up in Susquehanna Township and he decided it was time to give the playground where he learned the game a much needed makeover.
Through his foundation, Franklin helped fund the $39,000 dollars needed to install a new basketball surface, new backboards, and new rims at Edgemont Community Park. He says giving back has always been a priority, and that he wants the court to be a safe haven for young people to help them get good exercise and stay focused and out of trouble.
This is Franklin’s third playground renovation in the Harrisburg area.
