They left their veterans homes on Tuesday for the great outdoors in Dauphin County.
Dozens of vets cast their lines for the Adjutant General Fishing Tournament.
Clarks Creek near Dauphin was stocked with fish for the annual event that takes veterans out of the VA homes and gives them a day out to simply enjoy.
“It reminds them of times past,” Pennsylvania’s adjutant general, Maj. Gen. Tony Carrelli, said. “This is what they used to do, what they did growing up. It’s great to come out and catch some fish, and I know they are looking forward to bringing their catch back with them. Each of the homes tonight, they’ll be grilling up some fish, so they’ll be celebrating their catch all day long.”
Private donations paid for the fishing tourney.
