LANCASTER, Pa. (WHTM) — The School District of Lancaster announced the winners of the name change survey for its elementary and middle schools.
James Buchanan Elementary School will now be known as Rita Smith-Wade Elementary.
South East Middle School will now be known as Hazel I. Jackson Middle School.
The changes were made after the district found out both schools recognized former slave owners.
