COLUMBIA,Pa (WHTM) – Police in Columbia, Lancaster County are investigating the theft of bronze flower vases stolen from a cemetery on Memorial Day.
The manager of Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens told police that up to 23 white vases were stolen from the property on Monday night. The vases are valued at $300 each.
According to a post on the Laurel Hill’s Facebook page, the vases were stolen from the veterans section of the cemetery.
Kristy Everhart of Columbia discovered th vases surrounding her grandfather’s grave were taken.
“Why would somebody even do that when it’s people that fought for our country?” asked Everhart. “Everyone is just really mad about the whole situation.”
The sites that are missing the vases now have holes, and that’s leaving those with loved ones in the cemetery questioning why it happened.
“Nope, not at all. You can’t trust anyone anymore,” said Everhart. “Just remember what the people did for us that fought for country to keep us safe. We got to honor them, but you don’t disrespect somebody like this.”
