Janel Knight anchors the weekend evening newscasts at 6 and 11 p.m. She is also the morning reporter for abc27 News Daybreak during the week. She joined the station back in July 2011.
She fell in love with broadcasting when she was just seven years old. On a family trip to Washington, D.C. she gave daily reports on her family’s home video camera.
Before joining the abc27 News team, Janel spent three years as a reporter and fill-in anchor at WJAC in Johnstown, Pa.
In 2008, she graduated from American University in Washington, D.C. with a bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism and a double minor in multi-ethnic studies and justice.
Janel was born and raised in the city of champions – Boston – but her family hails from the Caribbean nations of Barbados and Jamaica. If you can’t tell, she is a die-hard Boston sports fan.
During her spare time she enjoys reading, surfing the Internet, watching television and giving back to the community through service.
