ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. (WHTM) – An intruder set off a burglar alarm in a Lancaster County home and was confronted at gunpoint by the resident, police said.

Derek R. Kelcher, 31, no current address, was arrested after he fled the Mount Joy Township house late Saturday, Northwest Regional police said.

Police said Kelcher entered the basement of the home on Sager Lane around 10:30 p.m. The resident retrieved a handgun, found Kelcher, and ordered him to leave.

Investigating officers searched the area and found Kelcher a short distance away. The resident identified him as the intruder, police said.

Kelchner initially provided a false identification to avoid outstanding probation and parole warrants, police said. He is charged with criminal trespassing, false reports, and public drunkenness.

He was placed in Lancaster County Prison on $40,000 bail.Get breaking news, weather and traffic on the go. Download the ABC27 News App and the ABC27 Weather App for your phone and tablet.
