Catholic sisters mark anniversary of civil rights lawsuit and prayer chapel

Catholic sisters will mark the anniversary of a civil rights lawsuit and a prayer chapel built to protest the construction of a natural gas pipeline in Lancaster County.

One year ago, the Adorers of Christ agreed to let the group “Lancaster Against Pipelines” build the chapel, in hopes of drawing people to reflect and pray over the land.

So starting at 2 p.m. Sunday, a prayer service and reflection will be held in the Cornfield on Lurel Run in Columbia.

The sisters have argued the installation of the pipeline on their property violates their religious beliefs.
