Children’s water bottles sold at Costco and Amazon have been recalled for lead levels that exceed the federal standard.

The Reduce Hydro Pro Furry Friends 14-ounce, stainless steel water bottles by Base Brands were sold in a pack of two bottles: a pink bottle with a bear face and a gray bottle with a lamb head.

The Consumer Product Safety Commission says the pink paint on the outside of the bear water bottle contains too much lead, which is toxic if ingested by young children.

The commission said people should take the water bottles away from children and return them to any Costco store for a full refund.

People who bought a water bottle from Amazon should contact Base Brands for a free replacement or full refund.

Costco and Amazon are contacting known purchasers directly.
